Dr. Echo Xie

Dr. Echo Xie

Dr Echo Xie is a highly experienced Gynaecological Oncologist, expert laparoscopic surgeon, and certified robotic console surgeon. She specialises in colposcopy, minimally invasive surgery, robotic procedures, and the management of complex gynaecological cancers. Dr Xie currently consults at the Royal Hospital for Women and Westmead Hospital in Sydney, where she is known for her compassionate, women-centred approach to care.

Dr Xie completed her medical degree at Sun Yat-sen University in China, graduating with distinction and receiving multiple academic scholarships. Since relocating to Australia, she has worked across several leading institutions, including Western Health in Victoria and major tertiary hospitals across New South Wales. She undertook a Peritonectomy Fellowship at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, gaining additional expertise in advanced pelvic surgery.

Her subspecialist training in gynaecological oncology was completed through fellowships at Chris O’Brien Lifehouse and John Hunter Hospital. At John Hunter, she finalised her CGO training and was subsequently appointed as a Consultant Gynaecological Oncologist, where she worked within a multidisciplinary cancer team delivering comprehensive and personalised care to women with gynaecological malignancies.

Dr Xie is passionate about global women’s health. She has been involved in the Pacific Island Cervical Cancer Screening Initiative, supporting early detection and prevention efforts across the region. More recently, she participated in a volunteer surgical mission to Vanuatu, where she performed complex gynaecological surgeries and provided hands-on training to local medical students and registrars.

As a dedicated educator, Dr Xie teaches medical students at the University of New South Wales, instructs for the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons' CCrISP program, and contributes to multiple surgical and oncology training courses.

Fluent in both Cantonese and Mandarin, and a mother of two, Dr Xie brings warmth, cultural understanding, and clinical excellence to every patient interaction.
